Motorola spent years perfecting the art of flip phones under the RAZR brand, and now the nostalgia seems genuinely current with devices that fold the other way. They’re going to push the boundaries still again with a new model, called the RAZR Fold, that folds out horizontally.

Many visitors at CES 2026 got a first look at Motorola’s RAZR Fold during Lenovo’s Tech World event. This device unfolds like a book, revealing a massive inner screen while still providing the complete smartphone experience when closed. Motorola is essentially claiming that its product is a game changer capable of competing with established book-style foldables like Samsung and Google.

When closed in your hand, the RAZR Fold feels like a super-premium slab phone, with a 6.6-inch display on the front that allows you to look for messages, directions, or whatever without having to fully open it. That is slightly larger than some of its competitors, allowing you more area to complete your daily tasks. When you unfold it, you’ll have an 8.1-inch 2K display to play with. The screen is large and has a high refresh rate, making scrolling quite smooth. Dolby Vision will make your videos look richer than before. Motorola has organized the software such that multitasking is simple, and you get various window layouts that adjust based on how you hold the device or where you place it. With the ability to run numerous apps at the same time, this device transforms into a true productivity tool that you can just carry in your pocket.

That isn’t the only innovative feature; the RAZR Fold includes stylus capability. The new Moto Pen Ultra works on the large inner screen and is extremely responsive to pressure and tilt, allowing you to sketch out some pretty solid designs or take thorough notes. There’s also palm rejection, which prevents you from accidentally pressing on the screen with your hand, a feature introduced by Samsung in their latest Galaxy Z Fold. The cameras are also decent, with a triple 50-megapixel array on the back, including a Sony Lytia sensor for some high-quality shots. There are also some good selfies to be had, either with the 32-megapixel camera on the front or the 20-megapixel one within.

You also get some useful AI features built in, such as Catch Me Up, which shows you what you may have missed when away from your phone. Next Move, which makes suggestions based on what you’ve been up to. All of this happens on the phone itself, so you get quick responses and all that nice stuff. Color options include Pantone Lily White and Pantone Blackened Blue, both available in woven vegan leather. For the time being, battery life is a mystery, but we’ve been informed it should be quite large and charge quickly.

One thing we do know is that the processor will most likely be one of Qualcomm’s latest, with enough of RAM to keep things running smoothly. Motorola isn’t saying much right now, but we’re expecting a summer launch and hopefully more information on pricing and features in the coming months.
