iPhone 18 Series Display Sizes Leak
Apple’s iPhone 18 series is already generating a lot of talk, despite the fact that September is still a ways away. According to reputable supply chain sources, the Pro models will undergo significant alterations, while the rest of the portfolio will launch in a non-traditional staggered release schedule.

Digital Chat Station, a not-so-secret leaker, revealed some tasty facts this week regarding what we may expect in terms of screen sizes and technology on the front of the various devices. The iPhone 18 retains the same 6.27-inch LTPO display that has been making the rounds, running at 120Hz and still including the Dynamic Island we know and love. The reported iPhone Air 2 is somewhat larger at 6.55 inches and includes Dynamic Island and a steady refresh rate, so no surprises there, but the Pro versions… well, that’s a different story.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will have the same size displays as the previous two in the lineup, 6.27 inches for the Pro and possibly 6.86 or 6.9 inches for the Pro Max, but the main change will be the use of under-display Face ID. This method hides the TrueDepth sensors beneath the screen, eliminating the pill-shaped cutout on the phone’s front. We’d heard a bit about this from The Information the previous month, and it sounded like the front camera would be relocated to a small hole-punch in the top left corner. Digital Chat Station describes this as a “new type of under-display cutout area” that will be exclusive to the Pro models, implying that the standard models will most likely continue to use the Dynamic Island we know and love.

Prototypes for all of these new handsets are already being manufactured, indicating that Apple has progressed beyond the conceptual stage. This is the phase where they get to test out all the different hardware possibilities, so it’s still possible that things will alter a little before the final decision is made, but the fact that many sources are stating the same thing gives these facts a lot of weight.

Looking at the outside of these latest iPhones, it appears that not much has changed from the iPhone 17 series. There are no major redesigns to speak of; the dimensions remain same, and the emphasis remains on what is going on up front. The Pro models get to clean up their act with the under-display Face ID, while the ordinary models are stuck with the interactive pill, which has become a defining element of recent iPhones.

Apple plans to debut the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and the first foldable iPhone in the normal fall window of 2026. However, the base iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 (not to mention any lower-cost variants that may be in the works) will be released much later, with spring 2027 appearing like the most likely date. This delayed rollout is part of the rationale for this; Apple wants to avoid being overwhelmed with manufacturing needs for some of the more advanced components, and they’re also attempting to make room in the lineup for some of these higher-end, specialized devices.
