Canadian actor Stephen Huszar chatted about starring in his new Hallmark movie “Melt My Heart This Christmas,” which premiered tonight, and he opened up about being a part of “SurrealEstate” Season 3.

Shooting experience of his latest Hallmark film

The synopsis is: “Holly (playede by Laura Vandervoort), a passionate glassblower, secretly displays her own art under a pseudonym while assisting a legendary glassblower to help Jack at a fair.”

On filming his latest holiday movie “Melt My Heart This Christmas,” Huszar said, “Well, we were not melting during the shooting. We were the opposite. We were actually freezing because it was colder than minus 30.”

“It was the coldest shoot I had ever done, to be honest, and my co-star, Laura Vandervoort, had to be in high heels and a skirt for most of it, so I really felt for her,” he said. “There are reasons why she played ‘Supergirl.’ Laura is superhuman.”

“It was a great experience working with Laura,” he admitted.

Working with Fireside Films

“I’ve done many pictures with Fireside Films, so it felt like I was coming home to family. Even though it was so cold filming this, it was a warm experience at the same time,” he acknowledged.

The movie was directed by Amy Force from a screenplay by Ansley Gordon. “It was great to work with Amy and Ansley. They are both amazing and so talented. It was super fun with a great cast,” he said.

“We had to make it light because it was so cold. We had to laugh and warm ourselves up, so I think it gave us some inspiration to be lighter and funnier,” he said.

“It was funny,” he admitted. “There is a lot of good humor in this movie, and I hope people are going to enjoy it for that as well.”

Playing his character Jack DuBois

When asked what he liked the most about his character (Jack DuBois), Huszar said with a sweet laugh, “My blonde highlights.”

“It was also fun to play something a little different,” he said. “Like an owner of a market, you know, in a bit of a conflicted situation here with this crazy girl who thinks she’s a glassblower, but she really is.”

“This character was fun because he was a little bit different to play,” he admitted.

‘SurrealEstate’ Season 3

On being a part of “SurrealEstate” Season 3, Huszar remarked, “Being a part of this series was super fun. I got to work with legends such as the Levy family. I mean, there’s no one bigger than that, right?”

“It was great working with Sarah Levy, who plays Susan, and of course, working with Tim Rozon,” he said.

“We filmed it in a familiar city, and I made some new friends with a very talented group of people from the cast to the crew. I really enjoyed seeing this elevated storytelling, so I was very grateful to be a part of that,” he added.

Hallmark mystery film with Jodie Sweetin

Huszar recalled doing his latest Hallmark mystery film with Jodie Sweetin titled “The Jane Mysteries: Too Much to Lose.”

“It was awesome,” Huszar exclaimed. “Jodie and I had a really great time on our last mystery ‘The Jane Mysteries: Too Much to Lose.’ That was our fourth installment together.”

“Jodie is amazing, and she is such an experienced artist, host and advocate. She does such great things. This mystery series has been a wild ride,” he admitted.

“We shot them all so quickly within a year and half,” he noted.

2025 Christmas Con in New Jersey

This December, he will be a part of the annual Christmas Con in New Jersey for three days (December 12, 13 and 14).

“It’s going to be fun,” he exclaimed. “This will be my second time doing it, and I am going to be there longer this time. I even think I’m on a panel or two. It’s going to be great!”

“It’s so rewarding to meet the people that are supporting all of this. I’m very grateful to meet all these really great fans, and they are such heartfelt people,” he expressed.

“I actually really, really enjoyed it last year, and I’m coming back this year,” he added.

Closing thoughts on his newest Hallmark holiday movie

For fans and viewers, Huszar concluded, “I hope people have as much fun watching it as we did making it. I hope they have some laughs, and hopefully, it melts something.”
