Honor Robot Phone Prototype Spotted in the Wild, Complete with Mechanical Arm

Honor is continually pushing the boundaries of how we hold our phones. Now comes the Robot Phone, a prototype that transforms your smartphone into a completely new type of companion you can’t imagine living without. I just returned from Honor’s User Carnival in China, complete with a mechanical arm that sprouts out of its back like a magic trick.
You can choose between black, white, or gold finishes on the back, some with a flawless glass sheen and others in rough imitation leather that catches the light just so. The build quality is strong, with an aluminum frame and a modest window below the camera area, indicating that it is a member of the flagship family.

However, that arm steals the spotlight without even trying. When folded, it is unobtrusive, tucked securely inside the phone, and protected from dust and scratches by a clear glass cover. And then, with a single press of a side button, it springs to life, stretching cleanly out of the phone. The main camera is located at the end (and this is where the technology truly shines) and gives a silky-smooth ride thanks to a built-in gimbal that smoothes out any wobbling as you travel. No more blurry shots from a shaking hand; the mechanism stabilizes the rock, and the arm appears to fully extend, revealing a little module beneath. Honor has merged it with a triple-camera system, but we’ll have to wait a little longer to learn more about its other specs.

You can place the phone on a table, and the arm will rise to frame a group image, automatically tracking faces as people move and laugh. Or flip it around for selfies, where the rear lens captures a better photo than the standard front-facing lens. Meanwhile, video comes to life, with the gimbal kicking in to smooth out any bumps as you run or trek, transforming what would otherwise be a blurry mess into something smooth and crisp. We should more info about price and final specs come Mobile World Congress in February 2026.
