Homemade Electric Jet Bicycle Comes Equipped with Ducted Fans

The Creative Channel showed us the jet bicycle they built, which is just a regular bike with a very unique makeover. Instead of a plain old electric motor, four high-speed ducted fans, sometimes known as EDF units among model enthusiasts, conduct the pushing. They are going at a blazing 75,000 RPM, which is quite fast to say the least.
The build begins with a conventional bike frame, which is then welded directly onto the current frame. After that, the brackets hold the fans in place. They’ve positioned the fans nicely, with three in the back and one in the front (roughly). Each fan has its own small power brick, which is linked to the frame. The batteries (4x 10,400mAh, 4x 2200mAh, 2x 2300mAh, and 1x 1800mAh) can be stored in satchels or backpacks and then attached to the bike.

The controls are simple, with only a normal analog switch on the handlebars allowing you to alter the fan speed. When you turn on the switch, all of the fans activate and generate a wall of air powerful enough to propel you ahead. The entire contraption consumes electricity like a thirsty man at a bar, and the batteries don’t last long, but the speed compensates; this machine outperforms rival e-bikes.

The bike accelerates quickly once the fans are whirling at full throttle, but there is no top speed stated in the notes, so it’s anyone’s guess how fast it goes. The fans’ location provides some stability to the bike by keeping the thrust low and centered. You can bet the noise level rises as the RPMs rise, giving the bike an unmistakable screech that warns everyone it’s approaching.

Safety is a concern with something like this because the fans draw in air that can get trapped in loose-fitting gear or debris, and the cables aren’t the neatest and may snag on something. All that being said, it’s probably best suited to large open expanses rather than city streets. Unfortunately, the documentation does not provide any new heavy-duty brake systems, so you’ll have to stick with ordinary bike calipers.
