Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition Unveiled, Will be Gifted to Competing Athletes at Milano Cortina

Samsung has recently unveiled a special Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition, just in time for the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. This limited handset is being distributed to almost 3800 athletes and Paralympians from 90 countries and will not be available in regular stores. They’ll begin handing out the phones on January 30th at Olympic Villages in six host towns, with Samsung staff on hand to set them up, transfer data, and answer any questions.

The phone’s hardware is identical to the normal Galaxy Z Flip7, which is not surprising given that it is the most recent clamshell design to hit the market. It has a 6.9-inch main display that unfolds nicely, an edge-to-edge cover screen that allows you to accomplish things without having to open the phone, a 50MP primary camera with a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and an all-day battery in a tiny body.As you’d expect from Samsung, the phone includes a variety of useful features such as their Interpretor software for real-time language translation, daily updates summarized in their Now Brief service, and photo editing tools such as Photo Assist. Did I mention that you can use their Dual Recording option to record video of yourself and the action around you simultaneously?

Its design screams Olympics: the back panel is a deep blue that resembles the Italian skies and the official Olympic colours, and the gold metal frame has a lovely gloss. It all comes in a glass case that attaches with a blue circular magnet and features gold laurel leaves etched on for added flair. Finally, the phone includes a series of pre-loaded wallpapers featuring the sweep of snow skis over the ice, which is a great touch.

How about the practical side of things? The phone comes with a 100GB 5G eSIM card, so you’ll be able to stay connected even in the mountains. The Samsung Wallet software is also pre-loaded, along with digital passes for all of the village vending machines and other items you may require. You also get the standard Olympic apps, such as Athlete365, the official Olympic Games app, IOC Hotline, PinQuest, and, of course, a fitness tracker to keep track of your activities in the village gym. The Galaxy Athlete Card also allows you to swap profiles with other athletes, collect digital cards, and participate in a variety of group activities across sports and countries.

It’s not just about day-to-day tasks; the phone also includes a slew of functions designed expressly for those all-important podium moments. For starters, there’s Victory Selfie, a tool that allows you to take selfies on the winner’s podium and throughout team events, ensuring that everyone in the group may participate. For some national committees, there is Victory Profile, a tool that allows you to take curated photographs with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, displaying all the personal stories that go beyond competition.

Samsung has been working with the Olympics since Nagano in 1998, and they have recently extended their agreement till Los Angeles in 2028. This particular model builds on the tradition established in Sochi in 2014, providing athletes with a device capable of handling all aspects of village life, including language barriers, family check-ins, and, of course, those all-important moments of triumph. For the competitors traveling to Milano Cortina, it will be similar to having a silent companion by their side throughout the Olympics.
