Chelsea head to Selhurst Park today looking to pile more misery on Crystal Palace.

It’s been a rough few weeks for the Eagles – dumped out of the FA Cup, losing Marc Guehi to Manchester City and Oliver Glasner confirming he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

There was time for another bombshell this week with numerous reports claiming Jean-Philippe Mateta has asked to leave the club.

Speaking on Friday, Glasner insisted his striker has not put in a transfer request, however, with Mateta available for today’s game.

Ismailia Sarr is back in the capital after his AFCON success with Senegal and is in line to return to the side today along with Daniel Munoz, who has recovered from a knee problem that requires surgery.

Chelsea meanwhile hope to have Cole Palmer back in the starting XI. The England international has started the last eight league games but missed the Champions League game against Pafos midweek with a thigh issue.

Palmer trained as normal on Friday so will be expected to reclaim his place in the starting XI.

Tosin Adarabioyo came off injured in the win over Brentford last weekend and remains sidelined, along with Romeo Lavia and Levi Colwill.

Dario Essugo was close to making his return after thigh injury but an unfortunate slip in training has delayed those plans.

Liam Delap was given the nod up front midweek in the Champions League with Joao Pedro expected to return to lead the line today after his goal against the Bees last week.

Chelsea XI to face Crystal Palace – Metro prediction

While there is a big Champions League game against Napoli looming next week, Chelsea must take care of business today against a Palace side who are without a win in their last 10.

It was a strong team that edged past Pafos midweek with Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Pedro Neto all playing the full 90 minutes but Liam Rosenior will surely call upon them again today.
