Dreame’s LEAPTIC Cube Packs 8K Video Into a Thumb-Sized Action Camera

Dreame, the company behind all those robot vacuums (!) has just thrown a fork into the action camera market. At CES 2026, they debuted the LEAPTIC Cube, a tiny device capable of shooting 8K video while remaining compact.

The camera is built around a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, which is one of the largest in a camera of this size. That sensor is capable of capturing high-quality still images at 50 megapixels and 8K video at 30 frames per second. If you drop down to 4K, you can choose between 60fps footage with HDR and even higher frame rates if you’re performing some slow-motion work. The lens is a custom 155-degree wide-angle that does an excellent job of sucking in light; the aperture is a nice and wide f/2.8, and the nano-coatings significantly reduce glare and distortion. The dynamic range is a remarkable 13.5 stops, which performs an excellent job of keeping the highlights and shadows looking attractive while preserving all of the valuable information.

Under the hood is a 4nm Qualcomm CPU, which is essentially a screaming fast piece of AI technology capable of handling 48 TOPS. Before you start filming, you can control things like power, modes, and settings with your voice, and while the camera is rolling, the AI is continuously working, adjusting the focus on faces, balancing the light, and following subjects to keep them sharp. When the camera has finished recording, the AI may go back through the film and enhance the colors, skin tones, and details – all on the fly.

Moko, an integrated AI assistant, responds to realistic voice commands and gestures, allowing you to control the camera without lifting a finger. The gyro stabilisation keeps the footage appearing silky smooth, and there are also low-light options that enhance the shadows while reducing noise.

One of the features that distinguishes this camera from the competitors is its modular design. The lens and sensor module may be pushed out of the main body (which includes a 2.27 inch LCD display), allowing you to record remotely from up to 98 feet away utilizing their ProSync wireless transmission system. This is ideal for capturing some pretty unusual angles and viewpoints. The module is extremely lightweight and employs magnets to allow it to be mounted in the most unusual places. The battery life in solo mode is roughly 90 minutes, but when you plug it into the magnetic external dock, you get longer power and data transfer, as well as a quite healthy 220 minutes of battery life.

Storage options include 64GB or 128GB, as well as a microSD card with a capacity of up to 1TB. It’s worth mentioning that Dreame is presenting the Cube as part of a larger imaging system, so imagine the LEAPTIC Cube paired with their AI Glasses for a live viewfinder feed or the AI Ring for some really slick gesture controls. The colors are black or white (which makes sense considering the overall “LEAPTIC” vibe), and it will retail for roughly $440 for the 64GB variant and $460 for the 128GB model, with a North American release planned later this year.
