Lenovo’s ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept Laptop Finally Lands at CES 2026, Here’s a Hands-On Look

Lenovo debuted the ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept at CES 2026, following on years of experimentation with flexible displays. This computer starts out as a very ordinary 13.3 inch laptop but quickly progresses to a higher 15.9 inch display, giving you a staggering 50% more area to work.

A flexible OLED panel is the brains of the operation, as it folds up into a very compact size that is easy to throw in a bag. Simply swipe your finger along the top edge or click a button, and some motors hidden inside the lid begin dragging the display up, enlarging the viewing surface in a seamless motion. Unlike prior rollable laptops, which tucked the extra screen beneath the keyboard, this one simply runs the display directly over the top of the lid. The screen bends 180 degrees around a curved portion in the middle of the lid, allowing you to see what’s going on even when the lid is closed.

Corning collaborated with Lenovo to create a lid cover made of super-clear Gorilla Glass for the Victus 2. This translucent panel protects the curving section while also allowing you to see the inner workings – the motors, pulleys, and wires that do the job when it expands. Even when the screen is positioned at an odd angle, the entire system remains tight. That portion on the outside is also important for a few things. When the laptop is closed, it displays certain touch-friendly widgets or notifications. When open or closed, it functions as a supplementary display for short glances or sharing information across a table.

Lenovo has preserved all of the old ThinkPad components. There is still a red TrackPoint in the center of the keyboard and a full set of keys. You have USB-C ports and a Kensington lock slot. A little press on the lid will move the screen out slightly, making it easier to open. Demos at CES demonstrated the screen growing at work. It rises slowly, allowing you to see more of the screen without needing to adjust the windows. Vertical growth is ideal for reading long documents, coding, or having multiple programs open at the same time. Swipe motions and voice commands can be used to quickly switch between modes or launch apps. There are some AI features in there for live translation and other weird inputs, but Lenovo seemed a little tight-lipped regarding processors and such.

This concept of theirs places the entire rollable mechanism right up in the lid itself, which differs from the others. Lenovo describes the Rollable XD as a concept for productivity devices that adapt to what you’re doing. For professionals, this means having a larger screen when needed without having to lug a large laptop around all day. The dual-sided display provides numerous opportunities for cooperation or public information panels.
