LG’s CLOiD Robot Steps Into the Home at CES 2026

LG revealed their all-new home robot CLOiD at the 2026 CES conference, with the clear goal of freeing up some of those precious hours that we all wish we had more of, you know, the ones that are consumed by all of the chores. This compact machine, CLOiD, was basically created to handle the most monotonous tasks so you don’t have to.
For starters, CLOiD appears to be a helpful companion, with a display panel that does an outstanding job of displaying various facial expressions, as well as a speaker for speaking, cameras to monitor what’s going on around it, and a range of navigation sensors. Its processor, or brain, is fairly complex, and it does a fantastic job of understanding voice commands and responding logically.

On the outside, CLOiD has two articulated arms that can move in all directions, each with seven degrees of freedom, including forward, backward, left, right, and rotation. Each of those hands has five fingers that can move separately, which is useful if you need to pick up a delicate item. LG invested a significant amount of time and energy designing a bespoke system for the robot’s arms, specifically the actuators that enable the movements. They’ve managed to compress a lot of intricacy into something small and manageable.

The actual magic happens with the cameras, which collect a lot of data and give it to these intelligent models that know how to analyze it all and then deliver a set of instructions on what to do next. The good news is that these models have been trained on a vast amount of footage of what happens inside a typical household over the period of many, many hours.

Vision systems may appear to be a minor detail, but they are an essential component of CLOiD’s entire setup, allowing it to determine what each appliance does, what the routines are, and even link to all of the connected gadgets in the house. It can even control the washing machine, tumble dryer, oven, and other appliances without anybody lifting a finger.

What truly sets CLOiD apart is its deep integration with all smart appliances; it functions as a mobile hub that constantly learns more about your household behaviors. So, for example, if it starts raining, CLOiD may recommend a workout, retrieve the exercise gear from the cupboards, and then change the aircon to ensure you have a beautiful cool environment to get on with your day.
