Wolves 1-4 Man Utd: Bruno Fernandes scores twice as United move into sixth | Football

Manchester United piled more misery on rock bottom Wolves as they returned to winning ways at Molineux.

Goals from Bryan Mbeumo, Mason Mount and a brace from Bruno Fernandes sealed an away victory for United that lifted them back into sixth place, now level on points from Chelsea.

Wolves managed to score their first goal in 540 minutes of football, going into the break level after Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s strike.

But the hosts fell apart in the second-half with United showing the ruthless touch that deserted them against West Ham United last week.

United’s opener came in almost embarrassing fashion with Matheus Cunha and Fernandes doing their best to pass up the opportunity before the skipper eventually bundled the ball home via a deflection after 25 minutes.

But as has so often been the case for Amorim’s side, the intensity levels dropped after the opener, inviting Wolves back into the game.

The hosts were rewarded with an equaliser on the stroke of half-time with Bellegarde finding the bottom corner with a precise finish.

Whatever was said at half-time sparked United into life with Cunha, Mount and Mbeumo combining to restore the lead five minutes into the second-half through the former Brentford star.

Fernandes turned provider just after the hour mark, clipping a cross into Mount who lashed home a volley from inside the box.

Amad Diallo’s volley was judged to have been blocked by the arm of Yerson Mosquera with Fernandes making no mistake from 12 yards to add a fourth.

Defeat for Wolves leaves them stranded on two points after 15 games, eight points from safety.
