Cole Palmer would be receptive to an offer from Manchester United should the club he supported as a boy firm up their interest in the Chelsea star.

The England international is reportedly unsettled in west London two-and-a-half years on from his £42.5million move from Manchester City.

Palmer is said to miss his family and the friends he grew up with in his hometown of Wythenshawe.

It would likely take a huge offer to tempt Chelsea into parting company with one of their ‘untouchables’.

The 23-year-old signed a new contract last year on improved terms until 2033 but would, according to The Sun, welcome an offer from United.

Despite being discontent with life in the capital Palmer would be reluctant to rejoin City where he struggled for first team opportunities, particularly in the Premier League, under Pep Guardiola.

United’s current director football, meanwhile, Jason Wilcox is well are aware of Palmer’s talent having nurtured his talent in his previous role at City.

The Red Devils are currently well stocked for left-footed forwards with Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo already cemented as key components of interim manager Michael Carrick’s rejuvenated team.

Patrick Dorgu, too, is emerging as a serious starting option in a new-look attacking role, but Palmer could be viewed as a long-term successor for captain Bruno Fernandes.

The Portugal international s under contract at United until next year and the club has the option of another year.

But Fernandes also has an agreement with United that he can move to an overseas club for £57m in the summer.

Palmer, meanwhile, has struggled with injury problems this season and has started just 11 games as a result of an ongoing groin issue.

‘Unfortunately for us Cole’s not quite right for this one,’ Liam Rosenior said ahead of Sunday’s win against Crystal Palace.

‘I’ve said before in press conferences we want to make sure that every player is 100 per cent. There’s no use risking players in January for what we want to achieve.

‘He’s got a little niggle in his thigh, he’s not quite 100 per cent, but he’s got a chance for Wednesday, hopefully he’s back for then.’
