Jackson Tiller chatted about his new vertical drama mini-series “The CEO and the Country Girl,” and being an actor in the digital age.

‘The CEO and the Country Girl’

His new vertical drama “The CEO and the Country Girl” recently premiered on the streaming app AltaTV. It was directed by Corey Gibbons from a script by Jenny Rosen. Tiller stars as Tyler Sinclair opposite Meg Bush as Avery Rogers.

“I loved it,” Tiller exclaimed. This was so much fun to make.”

Playing Tyler Sinclair

Tiller was drawn to his character, Tyler, for several reasons. “I think the normality of Tyler was really nice,” he admitted. “Both he and Avery were just normal, not over-dramatic people that you would normally see in the vertical world. I think it’s really nice to have some groundedness to the characters.”

Lessons learned from the screenplay

On the lessons learned from the screenplay, Tiller reflected, “I grew up on a farm, so it was nice to step back into that my world. We rode horses but not competitively. My mom taught English, so it was a nice reset to my home roots.”

“Also, Meg’s country accent was pretty on point, and it made me feel like I was at home for a while,” he added.

The digital age

On being a part of the digital age, at a time when streaming, technology and social media are so prevalent, Tiller said, “I think it’s awesome, exciting, and also it’s very unsure in the sense that I don’t think we really know where the vertical world is going”

“It looks like it’s going in the direction we all want it to go,” he noted. “I still think it’s crazy that all of this has happened in two years,” he added.

Working with director Corey Gibbons

On working with director Corey Gibbons, Tiller said, “I have also worked with Corey before, but not as actor and director. He was a camera guy on one of my projects, but Corey is wonderful.”

“I think he’s one of those directors that really understands how to communicate with the actor without overstepping boundaries that some actors may have,” Tiller noted.

“Also, Corey is just a lot of fun,” he admitted. “I think Jenny’s openness to letting her script mold itself into what it was just based off the ground that she gave it, and that was amazing!”

Working with Jenny Rosen

On working with vertical screenwriter Jenny Rosen, Tiller said, “I’ve worked with Jen before too, and I think she’s wonderful. It’s amazing to have people like her that are trying to expand the vertical world.”

“I think people like Jenny and Corey are only going to make this world better,” he added.

Stage of his life

On the title of the current chapter of his life, Tiller said with a sweet laugh, “Busy.” “I think ‘Growing Pains’,” he clarified. “I am still growing.”

Success

On his definition of the word success, Tiller said, “Success means to be able to be tired and exhausted from something that I have desired to do for so long is such a wonderful to have.”

Message for his fans

For his fans and supporters, Tiller expressed, “I think saying ‘thank you’ to them is not enough.”

“Without the fans, none of what we do exists, none of the options that we get to have in our life to choose the things we want to do exist. I think the fans are so vital to us being successful,” he explained.

“I still wake up some days and I’m still amazed that people care about what I’m doing with my life,” he admitted.

“It’s so crazy to me, but the vertical fan-base is comprised of diehard fans, and they are committed and they love us. Some of the fans love us very much, and it’s wonderful,” he elaborated.

“I think the fans are really what drives the platform to be what it is. So, without the fans, I don’t think there is a vertical world,” Tiller concluded.
