In the latest Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailer, Chris Hemsworth puts on his Thor war outfit for the last time, in a way that feels unlike anything we’ve seen before. Fans have been waiting an eternity for a look at fresh footage from the next major Avengers film, and this one delivers. Not only that, but it provides a very personal glimpse at the God of Thunder.

The film fades in on Thor alone in a huge, misty countryside; he’s still wearing his trademark red cloak and war gear, but the way he’s stooped down suggests he’s not feeling as invincible as he once did. Stormbreaker is lying there, the head of the axe embedded in the ground, and as the camera zooms in on Hemsworth’s face, he is on his knees, eyes closed, and speaking in a low, steady voice, as if he is trying to convince himself.

He carries on without pause. “But now fate has given me something I never sought: a child, a life untouched by the storm.” Quick cut inserts a brief glimpse of Love, played by India Rose Hemsworth, safe at home in New Asgard, playing quietly.
