Technology leaker Jon Prosser recently shared detailed renders of Apple’s yet-to-be-announced foldable iPhone, giving everyone a sense of what’s in store for 2026. The design they’ve allegedly selected is similar to a book fold, in that you simply flip it out to reveal a much larger screen to play with, and when closed, the device is only 9mm thick, which is quite sleek in smartphone terms. When you flip it open, the thickness slims down to 4.5mm, making the phone way easier to carry in your pocket.

Out front, you have a 5.5-inch screen, which is adequate for checking messages, making calls, and so on. Then, when you flip it open, a 7.8-inch inner screen appears, which is roughly tablet-sized and ideal for reading, watching videos, or simply having multiple apps running side by side. Apple is particularly happy of how they handled the crease. Most foldable screens have one, but not this one since engineers added a metal plate underneath the screen to help spread out the bend, as well as liquid metal to the hinge for extra strength.

To be honest, the cameras are a bit of a mixed bag, as there are two on the rear in a horizontal bar, similar to what Apple has been doing with iPhones recently. However, one of the cameras is on the outer screen while the device is closed, allowing you to take selfies, and another is on the inside for when you flip it open and want to conduct a video chat. Face ID is gone, and in its stead is plain old-fashioned Touch ID, which is incorporated right into the power button that has been moved up to the top edge, which is a great touch because it is much easier to use whether the device is open or closed.

Inside, they have the second-generation C2 modem, which is meant to improve efficiency and so on. The battery cells are split across the two halves of the device, giving you a little extra runtime, and the display driver has been optimized to aid as well. Colors may be limited at launch, only black and white, but that’s not surprising given the price.

Anyway, all of this should be available in September 2026, along with the new iPhone 18 Pro variants. What about the price? Well, let’s just say it won’t be cheap; expect to pay between $2000 and $2500 for the privilege of having one, which is probably what you’d expect given the materials and engineering that went into constructing this monster.
