UBTECH’s Walker S2 Humanoid Robot Steps Into Factories, Hundreds at a Time

Shenzhen-based UBTECH Robotics has just shipped hundreds of Walker S2 humanoids to real factories, claiming that this is the world’s first mass delivery of robots intended to appear and move like real humans. They’re not holding back on any details either. Production ramped up in mid-November, and the first batch has now been dispatched to partners that require additional labor on the assembly line.
This year, UBTECH received orders for 800 million yuan (around $113 million) from specialized set-ups to full-scale deployments. One big transaction in September was 250 million yuan from a well-known Chinese company for smart robot systems. The second largest single order was from a Zigong-based company in Sichuan for 159 million yuan. UBTECH plans to deliver 500 Walkers by the end of December and they’re right on schedule. A big data center project in Guangxi has committed 126 million yuan and Miee Auto, a Hubei-backed vehicle exporter, has committed over 100 million yuan.

The automakers are driving the demand for Walkers; BYD, Geely Auto, FAW-Volkswagen, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor are all getting some, as is Foxconn which will use them for logistics. These robots are taking over work that humans used to do, like sorting parts in factories or carrying products around warehouses. The idea is simple: operations should run 24/7, without someone having to watch everything all the time. Early results are promising as partners are testing the devices in real-world scenarios not in a lab.

However, the Walker S2’s battery technology is what truly gives it an advantage in harsh settings. This device can swap out its own power pack in minutes – no human intervention required – reducing downtime to a minimum. It has really been on the market since July for industrial use, and it is ideal for shifts that require constant motion. UBTECH created it to be tall and strong, with joints that can mimic human movements while also allowing for high weights and precise grips. Those who visited the factory recently saw that humanoids now make up 30% of sales, up from 10% last year, meaning that the trend is real, not just hype.

Despite the challenges, money is pouring in. In the first half of 2025, revenue grew 27.5% to 621 million, gross profit 17.3% to 217 million, loss 18.5% to 440 million. The company is keeping costs under control while growing. Investors took notice and the stock rose over 150% this year to HK$133. Citi and JPMorgan still have buy on the stock, with targets above HK$170. UBTECH was the first robotics company to list on the Hong Kong exchange in 2023 and this just cements that.
